Less than a mile from the Crowne Plaza Denver Downtown, the Denver Art Museum is hard to miss. Comprised of two huge contemporary buildings, it features over 350,000 square feet of space that houses more than 70,000 works of art. The 10 permanent collections cover everything from Asian, European, and African art to Spanish, pre-Columbian, and Western American pieces. There are also traveling exhibitions on display throughout the year. Other activities include taking a tour, dropping into the Paint Studio to express yourself on canvas, and shopping in one of the two Museum stores.
The Museum is open Tuesday-Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 5 :00 p.m.

does the museum offer family activities?
Yes, and there is no shortage of them. Creative Corners gives kids a chance to construct a treasure chest and piece together portraits. Art can be learned about via Bingo and I Spy at Gallery Games. Over at the Kids Corner, everything from trying on clothing from different cultures to building a flower collar from ancient Egypt is par for the course. And designing hats is just the beginning of things to do at the Just For Fun Family Center.
Are there any days with free admission?
As a matter of fact, there are a dozen days where you can visit the Denver Art Museum without having to pay an admission price. Those days are the first Saturday of every month. A special event that takes place on Free First Saturdays is CelebrARTE, which focuses on Latin culture and creativity through an array of bilingual activities. Please note that your free entry does not include exhibitions that require a separate ticket.
